Dear Newmarket School District Community,
Tuesday, March 10th, was a good day for the Newmarket School District—and not just because it was 74 degrees and sunny. It was also a good day because our community showed up in large numbers to support the School District at the polls. The last time voter turnout was this high for a school election was in 2017, when voters approved the $39 million bond to renovate our schools. Thank you for your engagement and participation.
Complete election results are available on our website, but I would like to highlight a few outcomes.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Szeliga on her election to a three-year term on the School Board. Liz is both an educator and a parent in our community, and she brings a strong commitment to public education.
Congratulations as well to Chris Hawkins, Terri Littlefield, and Annette Brousseau on their re-election as School District Moderator, Clerk, and Treasurer. Thank you to each of them for their continued service to the Newmarket School District.
The operating budget passed with 77% support. We recognize the impact rising property taxes can have, and we deeply appreciate the community’s continued support of our schools.
Voters also approved the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for our paraeducators with 80% support. This agreement ensures our paraeducators and tutors are compensated appropriately for the important work they do supporting our students and teachers each day.
Thank you again to everyone who participated in this year’s school election. I look forward to seeing many of you this spring at a sporting event, play, or concert.
With sincere appreciation,
Todd Allen, Newmarket Superintendent
