Community Resources Message

Dear Newmarket Parents, Teachers, Students, and Community Members,

The Newmarket School District remains committed to supporting all members of our community during these challenging times. We are aware of national and regional Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities and want to affirm our commitment for the safety and well-being of our families. If you or someone you know needs support, please contact a school administrator or counseling professional for confidential assistance. We encourage you to share these resources as needed.

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. All of our facilities maintain security systems in place and up to date Emergency Operations Plans, and our staff regularly participate in safety training. We work closely with Newmarket Police and Newmarket Fire and Rescue to prepare for and respond to emergencies with the intention of being proactive in addressing school safety.

Over the past year, we have collaborated with the Newmarket Police Department to prepare for the possibility of ICE enforcement activity. While we are not aware of any such actions occurring in town, we recognize that ICE enforcement activity elsewhere has at times been disruptive to the communities impacted.

Our preparedness planning recognizes that any ICE enforcement activity would most likely occur within the broader community rather than within the walls of our schools. In a small town, anything that happens to our fellow community members can have a major impact on the school district. While we care deeply about all residents, we have no way to know what community members might be affected in the event of ICE enforcement actions in town.

To support proactive planning, we are sharing resources to help families develop personal safety plans. These materials are provided for voluntary use and are not intended to be submitted to or shared with school personnel. Our goal is to provide information and support while respecting every family’s privacy.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Todd Allen
Superintendent
Newmarket School District
