Friday Remote Teaching and Learning Day

Dear parents, guardians, and members of the Newmarket community,

Tomorrow, January 7th,will be a Blizzard Bag, Remote Learning Day. Teachers have prepared students for a remote learning day and the principals sent out some additional details earlier this evening.

Today we were informed of twelve more positive cases of COVID 19 in our schools; NJSHS had eight (8) and NES had four (4). All close contacts have been notified. On-campus learning will continue at both schools on Monday. This will be the last COVID positive update I will be sending out in a mass email. We will now provide information on our website in a table format that we will update every day around 4:00 PM starting on Monday. Click here to see the new table.

Last, the additional mitigation measures recommended for implementation will go into effect on Monday. Elementary students will now eat lunch in their classroom until the surge in COVID cases subsides to pre-winter break levels. We will also be introducing an optional COVID diagnostic testing program. To participate, complete the consent form and send it to the nurse via the main office at the school. We need one form completed for each child. Given the limited number of test kits that we have, we are prioritizing students and staff that become symptomatic while at school. Once we get approvals for PCR tests and additional rapid tests, we will expand our program to include asymptomatic, close contacts.
