Vaccinations, Sports Updates and FY 23 Budget Proposal

Dear parents, guardians, and members of the Newmarket community,

I thought I would share a few updates with you before the weekend including a few Mule wins, an update on vaccinations, and an overview of our FY23 budget proposal.

Mule Wins. This was a great week for our school community! Let's take a minute to celebrate our wins.

  • Girls Soccer. Congratulations to our Girls Varsity Soccer team who defeated Sunapee with a score of 1-0 last night in the Division IV semi-finals!  Our Girls move on to the Finals on Sunday at Noon (12:00p) at Manchester Memorial High School versus Woodsville

  • Girls Cross Country. Our Girls Varsity Cross Country team will compete in the Meet of Champs this Saturday, November 6th at 2:30pm at Nashua High School South

  • Boys Varsity Football. The Boys Varsity Football team will play Somersworth in the Semifinals this Saturday, November 6th at 1pm at Somersworth High School

  • NES Facility. The special town meeting last Saturday was well attended, and the residents unanimously approved the funding for the NES window, electrical, and HVAC upgrades! We thank all who attended the meeting and Janna Mellon, Terry Littlefield, and Chris Hawkins for guiding us through the process.

Vaccinations. Vaccinations for children ages 5 though 11 were approved by CDC this week. We have heard the state will be gearing up to support local vaccination clinics students and hope to have more information to share soon. Unfortunately, the state is not supporting vaccination booster clinics so anyone that previously received their vaccination at the school will need to get their booster from a local pharmacy or participating Hannaford’s.

FY23 Budget Overview. At last night’s Board meeting we reviewed some of the highlights of our educational plan for the FY23 school year. Though we are still refining the plan, we thought you might appreciate seeing some highlights.

Have a great weekend.

Susan K. Givens, Ed.D.
