Community Update October 2025

Dear Newmarket Families,

October has always been one of my favorite months of the year. The vibrant display of leaves changing color, along with the cool nights, makes each day almost perfect. Also, any month that includes fun costumes and candy easily ranks high on my list, despite the endless yard work that comes with all those beautiful leaves. October has been a busy month for us, especially for our high school and middle school students. I want to take a moment to highlight some of the great things happening and to share some exciting upcoming community events scheduled for November.

At the high school level, we administered the PSAT to all our sophomores and juniors on the 8th. While school-wide testing may not be anyone’s favorite way to spend a Wednesday, students arrived prepared and gave their best effort. Additionally, last month, we hosted a school-wide student organization and club fair in the café during extended advisory. This allowed everyone to see all the great student-run clubs we offer and to showcase the excellent work they do for the school community. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tuesday was a district-wide pink out. This was a very successful event organized by SALT, resulting in a meaningful donation to the American Cancer Society. Finally, a note of gratitude to the entire community for participating in this year’s trick or canning event. To date, we’ve collected over 2 tons of food to donate to the Newmarket food pantry.

Over the last month, the junior high students have had their fair share of community-building events. Last week was junior high spirit week, which culminated in a 6th-8th grade pep rally that could be heard throughout the building. Today, in honor of Halloween, the junior high student council was seeking nominations for the best costume, with voting taking place today and awards being issued on Tuesday. From the academic side, each team continues to work on refining WIN to address individual student needs and provide the necessary supports to ensure every student is truly getting “What I Need."

Looking forward to November, we have quite a few student and community-based events that I wanted to make sure you were aware of:

- Varsity Boys Soccer - Tonight at 6:30, the varsity soccer team will play under the lights at Oyster River High School against Littleton as they look to advance in the playoffs.

- Leaf Raking - Our high school National Honor Society is offering leaf raking services for Newmarket residents who need help cleaning up their yards. The event will run every weekend in November, and interested individuals can sign up by emailing taylora@newmarket.k12.nh.us. A flyer with more information is also attached.

- Class of 2026 Community Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, throughout the building. This event is always very popular with many local vendors. It’s a great way to support the community and get a jump start on holiday shopping.

As I mentioned in last month’s update, we want to ensure that parents and guardians can access their students' grades and attendance through the Infinite Campus parent portal. Our IT department has created helpful documents and videos to assist you in setting up your accounts.
