Newmarket Junior High School Opening Information

Dear Junior High School parents and students,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! The Junior high School staff and administration are looking forward to your in-person return and we are working feverishly to be ready for our opening on August 31st. I am writing to provide you with some important information to help navigate you through the transition back to school. To help make this information clear, I am organizing information by category.

Middle School Parent Information Night

I will be holding an informational Zoom meeting on Wednesday, August 25th at 6 PM for all middle school parents.  I will review the information in this newsletter and answer specific questions about the middle school schedule (STEAM, WIN, Band, Chorus, etc.). Please mark your calendar.

School Opening

The first day of school for our Junior High School students will be August 31st. Arrival time for students is between 8 and 8:15 AM. Students should not arrive prior to 8 AM.  All students should report to their BLACK - A Block class. We are aware that the schedules we shared through Infinite Campus reflects our old starting time. We are working with Infinite Campus to correct this issue.

Bus Routes

Our bus company is working on finalizing bus routes. We anticipate that they will be available on the district website early next week. Please note that all students who ride the bus are required to wear masks under Federal Law.

School Lunches

Our 7th and 8th grade students will have lunch in our cafeteria. Due to spacing and seating limitations, our 6th graders will enjoy lunch in their C-Block classroom.

School Picture Day

We are pleased that Geskus Studios will be able to take school photos for us this year. Please note that Picture Day is scheduled for September 15th. We have scheduled our Picture re-take day for October 20th.

Student Dismissals (and Re-entry)

Please make every effort to schedule appointments outside of the school day whenever possible. In the event you need to dismiss your child for an appointment we ask that you send in your student that morning with a note indicating the time and destination of the appointment. We would request that if your child will be returning to the school the same day that they wear a mask while at their appointment. Students should sign out in the main office when leaving and upon return.

Have a great weekend!
