What is your job title and school?
I am a kindergarten teacher at NES. In 1998, the kindergarten program was created with three teachers and a half day program. We now have five kindergarten teachers and have had a full day kindergarten since 2015.
What is your favorite part of your job and of teaching/working in Newmarket?
I love teaching kindergarten! I can’t imagine doing anything else. I believe in play based learning and try to balance the required curriculum with creative learning and play. I also love the community of Newmarket. They have always been so supportive of the school community.
Where did you grow up? Where did you go to college?
I grew up in Marblehead MA and I still live there. I also lived for nine years in Tallahassee, FL earning my bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Florida State University and worked down there before moving back to Marblehead. I got my masters degree in Child Development from Wheelock College in Boston.
How long have you worked in Newmarket? Where did you work before that?
I have worked in Newmarket for 28 years. I was a kindergarten para in Marblehead before joining Newmarket Elementary school.
Please tell us about your family. Pets?
I have one older sister and one younger sister and my mother and we all live in Marblehead. My father passed away in 2001.
What activities/interests do you enjoy outside of work?
I love to travel!! I travel every summer with my older sister. We traveled to Egypt last summer and are planning our trip to Provence and Lyon this summer. I also play volleyball each week with friends.

What is the most interesting place you have visited in your travels?
In 2019, I traveled to Israel and Jordan. It was an amazing trip, and we were able to visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, Masada and swim in the Red Sea. You really do float!!!! In Jordan, we visited Amman, Petra and Wadi Rum desert. They filmed Lawrence Of Arabia and the Martian in the Wadi Rum desert. We rode camels and had tea in a bedouin tent. Petra was on my bucket list and was as incredible as it looks.
If you could magically master a new skill in one day what would it be?
I would love to be able to draw something more than a stick person.

1.I would love to travel to the Mekong Valley, Australia and New Zealand
2. I want to retire to South Carolina
3. I would love to have a Dachshund for a pet.
