What is your job title and school?
- Assistant Principal for Student Services at the Elementary School
What is your favorite part of your job and of teaching/working in Newmarket?
- The small town feel and knowing pretty much all the kids, as well as seeing the families around town. It is such a supportive community and the services and programming offered are very impressive for a small diverse community.
Where did you grow up? Where did you go to college?
- I grew up in Sutton, Massachusetts. I went to Bridgewater State University for my undergrad, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Intensive Special Needs and Psychology. I then went on for my Master's in Special Education through Salem State University, and a second Master's through Rivier College in Educational Administration, as well as a certificate in Emotional & Behavioral Disorders.
How long have you worked in Newmarket? Where did you work before that?
- This is my 18th year in Newmarket! Prior to Newmarket, I worked as a Behavioral Management Teacher and Intensive Special Needs Teacher in Massachusetts. I also have worked at the Evergreen Center, which afforded me some amazing experiences.
Please tell us about your family. Pets?
- I am married with two children. My daughter is a freshman at Dover High, while my son is in 5th grade at Barrington Middle School. We have 4 mice as pets- our furbabies! I also have three African Dwarf frogs at work!
What activities/interests do you enjoy outside of work?
- I love a good book, and recently podcasts. I love spending time with my family, being outdoors and exploring. I enjoy music, playing the harp and trumpet, as well as singing. I love to do a variety of crafts.
Name your all-time favorite...
Book: I don't have favorite books, but rather authors- Colleen Hoover, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks, Harlen Coben
Movie: Italian Job, Shooter, Field of Dreams, and any of the Mr/Mrs. Miracle Hallmark Movies
TV show: Tracker, Elsbeth, Braylen Out Loud
Musician: I like a variety....- Love Big Band/Jazz and believe I grew up in the wrong era, as I would definitely have been a Swing Kid!
Athlete/team: Red Sox, Celtics, particularly Larry Bird back in the day!
If you had to eat one meal everyday for the rest of your life what would it be?
- Pasta (it's so versatile)
What is the most interesting place you have visited in your travels?
- Guatemala, Grand Canyon
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
- Bucket List places for me to visit in order- Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Brazil, Australia, Iceland, Alaska
If you could magically master a new skill in one day what would it be?
- Being fluent in Spanish
Name three items that are on your "bucket list."
- Sing the National Anthem at a major event, Get a sentimental tattoo, Travel to the abovementioned destinations
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
- Everything happens for a reason- you just need to find it.
What is a surprising or interesting thing that people may not know about you?
- I played first trumpet in high school for the Central District Massachusetts Band- I was the first trumpet player from my hometown to audition for Central Districts and be awarded a seat in the band. I also received an audition for the All State Band.
