FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS AUGUST 31ST

OCTOBER UPDATES

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians, Faculty and Staff,

I can hardly believe that October has come to an end and that we are nearing the end of our first quarter!

Announcements

Recognitions

Holly Ferman of Newmarket’s Junior/Senior High School was a first place winner for art in the annual Art & Poetry Challenge sponsored by the Racial Unity Team. Participants were challenged to use a line from the poem, “The Hill We Climb,” by Amanda Gorman for inspiration to create their own work of art or poetry. Cash prizes of $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place were awarded for art and poetry in elementary, middle school, high school, and adult categories. Congratulations Holly!

Also, Congratulations to Augustus Vigorito for receiving a commendation through National Merit. This recognition distinguishes him as one of the top scoring PSAT students last year.  He joins Isabel Pentony, a National merit finalist, as our second student recognized through the National Merit (College Board) program. Congratulations and thank you for showing the world that Newmarket students are working diligently to distinguish themselves academically!

Athletics

Congratulations to all of our Fall athletes for their successes and efforts thus far!

The boys finished out their season Wednesday evening in a tough game against Pittsburg/Canaan. The boys competed well all season. Congratulations!

The football team had a tough game last evening against Somersworth but are looking ahead to the playoffs on November 6th.

Good luck to our Cross Country runners who are competing this morning at Derryfield Park in Manchester!

Finally, our undefeated girls soccer team will be competing tomorrow at Oyster River High School against Concord Christian Academy. Game time is 1 PM. We hope everyone can come out to support our mules!

Homework Club

The quarter ends this coming Friday, November 5.

Does your student have missing assignments that they could use some help with?

There will be a homework club for HS students from 2:40-3:40 Tuesday-Thursday this week in Ms. Brauer's room, room 220.

MS students who need help with getting caught up this week may attend HW club from 2:40-3:40 Monday-Thursday in room 104 with Mrs. Murray.

A regularly scheduled homework club for both MS and HS students is in progress and is expected to begin with the start of the new quarter.

Happy November!
