Man in boat, text reads: Life is pure adventure, and the sooner we realize that, the quicker we will be able to treat life as art. - Maya Angelou

General Resources

Throughout the year, you may find that you need more information about certain topics.  Below, I have included some extra information about general topics that students typically want to research in detail throughout the entire year.

Plagiarism

Academic honesty is something that Newmarket Jr/Sr High School values greatly, and the consequences for cheating can affect a student tremendously.  I have attached a handout that I made about the basics of plagiarism (what it is and how to avoid it) and the student handbook for reference.

Revision/Editing Process

Citing in MLA format

The plagiarism handout goes over basic MLA format, but it is important to note that Newmarket Jr/Sr High School only uses the MLA citation style.  MLA style is typically used when creating in-text citations and works cited for English academic works, whereas Chicago and APA styles are used for other subjects. When I was in school, we were given a large book containing all of the rules for citing sources. I recognize that we do not still do that these days, so here are some links that I use to cite my sources and format my academic papers!

These are two automatic works cited generators that I prefer, but make sure that you click the manual entry/manual cite button (MLA8). If you simply search the text, it is not guaranteed that you will find the correct edition.
