Newmarket Elementary School is committed to the involvement of parents in the education of their children. The Newmarket Elementary School Learning Compact is sent home in the Fall for all parents to sign. Parent’s Right to Know information, as outlined in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, is included in the NES student handbook.
The annual Title I parent meeting is held each fall. The purpose of this meeting is to explain the Title I program, meet the Title I staff, and discuss with the parent how they can be involved with Title I and their child’s program. Childcare is provided for this meeting. Title I parents are also invited to other curriculum programming that takes place throughout the school year.
Program Planning and Evaluation
In addition to feedback from the annual parent meeting in the fall, a questionnaire is sent home each spring to Title I parents seeking input for additional parent-focused programs. The Title I Project Manager meets with all Title I staff and administration to discuss the results of that survey. Survey results and parent feedback are used for any programming changes. Parents are also asked to comment on the Parent Policy at that time as well.
A Title I newsletter goes home once a month to all parents of Title I students. This newsletter includes helpful hints and strategies for parent involvement. In addition, there is information on the Title I website for parents, including the powerpoint used for our Fall annual meeting.
Our Newmarket Elementary PTA holds monthly meetings that discuss parent involvement and other parenting issues. Title I parents are invited to attend those meetings.
They are also provided with information about adult education classes offered at the Adult Education building in Exeter, NH.
