Newmarket Elementary School Update

October 15, 2021

Don’t you just love this time of year in New Hampshire? The colors are becoming more vivid and the morning air feels crisp and clean. As the mornings get cooler and the days are slow to warm, your children will need a jacket while waiting for the bus in the morning.  They also go out for recess before lunch and sometimes while waiting for the start of the school day. Please remind them to put on a sweatshirt,  or jacket when they are leaving your home in the morning.

Parent Drop Off & Pick Up:

Just a reminder, if you’re picking up your child, please place their name on the passenger side of your front dash. It’s also a great help when parents pull forward when gaps develop in the line of cars. Please be advised for safety reasons we have been loading children into cars first then dismissing children to parents waiting by the crosswalk. This helps to limit the number of pedestrians crossing the front driveway during this time. It also helps us to make sure the children are going home with their correct parent.

Book Fair:

The Scholastic Book Fair will be ending on ending on October 17th. If you’re interested in ordering books for your child, please use this link. https://shop.scholastic.com/parent-ecommerce/as-seen-in-schools/360fair.html?fairId=5186700 Additionally, information regarding our book fair can be found on the school’s website as well.

Picture Retake Day:

We will be holding our picture retake day for families who are interested in having their child's school picture retaken. All preschoolers and new students will have their picture taken as well. Order information can be found on the school’s website.

Parent Notes:

We would like to remind parents to send in a note to your child’s classroom teacher if your child’s end of the day plan is going to vary from their normal routine. We need notes if your child is riding a different bus home, will be in parent pick up or needs to be dismissed early from school. If you need to contact the school with any last minute change in plans, please try to contact the school by 2:00 pm. This will allow the office staff to share this information with your child’s teacher in a timely manner. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Bikers & Walkers:

If you would like your child to bike or walk home from school, we need to have your permission in writing. A permission slip that is good for the year went home at the beginning of the school year. If you need a new one, please let the office know. Please remember that any child riding a bike to school needs to wear a helmet as required by NH Law.

Lost & Found:

Our lost and found is already bursting at the seams with coats, hats, lunch boxes and many other items. We will be cleaning out our lost and found before Thanksgiving break. If your child is missing something, please stop in and check out the items in that have been left behind.  I would suggest that you write your child’s name on the tag of their jacket, as this will help us in returning these items to your child, if the wind up in the lost & found

Hot Shot Jump Rope:

Jump rope is underway for all students at NES. Students should wear loose clothes and sneakers when attending practice. On the day of their grade level practice, students should report to the gym at the 3:00pm bell. The practice schedule is as follows:

MONDAYS - GRADE 5

TUESDAYS - GRADE 4

WEDNESDAYS - GRADE 3

THURSDAYS - GRADE 2

FRIDAYS - GRADE 1

All practices run from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.

Cross Country:

Congratulations of our Cross Country team for a successful season. Not only did each of runner improve their times, but they all were fantastic ambassadors of NES. A big thank you to Ms. Miller, Ms. Connolly, Ms. Lupoli, Ms. McFarland, Ms. McKenna, and Ms. Cote. We couldn’t run this program without their dedication.
