Principal Pine's Welcome Back Letter

August 20, 2021

Dear NES Families:

We hope this letter finds all our families enjoying the remaining days of our long summer break. We are extremely excited to welcome our students back to the building. The school just is not the same without the laughter and smiles of our students. We always look forward to the start of the school year with great anticipation. The energy the children bring to the school is a refreshing change to our quiet, but busy summer routine. Many of our teachers have already been in the building preparing their classrooms for what promises to be a fantastic school year. It’s hard to believe the start of school is right around the corner; August 31st. is the first day of school.  Our first week of school will be a “soft start”, this will allow us to help students to get reacquainted with the school, work on establishing classroom communities, and review both new and old routines.

We are happy to share with you the children will be back on the playground with their grade level peers during recess. A big thank you to the Newmarket Public Works Department for spreading a fresh layer of woodchips around the playground. Our maintenance staff has done an outstanding job preparing the building for the upcoming school year. Floors have been waxed, windows washed, and the building has been cleaned top to bottom. Their hard work helps make our school a pleasant, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and parents.

Parent Drop Off & Pick Up:

Much like last year, we expect a significant amount of traffic at the school during both arrival and dismissal times. To avoid gridlock on our access roads and along town roads leading to the buildings, we are staggering drop off and pick-up times at both schools as follows. We ask that you do not arrive before your designated times as we will be having high volume of traffic on the premises.

Bus Transportation:

Currently the bus company is working on their routes for this school year. We will share the routes for this school year with our families when they become available. As a reminder, federal law currently mandates that all riders of public transportation, including school buses, must wear a mask.

School Lunches:

Unlike last year, students will be eating in the cafeteria, they will be social distanced and have a desk to sit at next to their classmates. Lunches will be provided at no cost to all students wishing to eat our school lunch. Please keep in mind you will need to sign up your child each week through the Food Service link on our website if you want them to receive lunch through our food services program.
