Recycling-Newmarket Elementary School has resumed its recycling program after a construction hiatus.  The Student Council representatives help with the collection of the bins throughout the building and bring them out to the dumpster.  As a school, we fill an 8 cubic foot dumpster ½-¾ full each week, saving all of these materials from the landfill! Our goal is to get back to our pre-construction level of completely filling the dumpster with recyclables each week!

A Special Message form Nurse McCormick:

Hand Hygiene-We have all heard that proper hand hygiene reduces the risk of illness.  Here are a few eye opening facts:

There are more germs on your cellular phone, Ipad/Kindle, Chromebook, remote control and cutting board than on a toilet seat.

One in five people do not wash their hands.

Germs can stay alive on your hands for up to 3 hours.

Hand washing with soap is one of the most effective methods for combating diarrhea, pneumonia, the cold, the flu and other diseases that sicken children around the world.

Everyone should practice good hand hygiene. Wash your hands often, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds. Do not touch your mouth, nose or eyes with unwashed hands. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer. Go to CDC - Handwashing for more information!
