Thanksgiving and Gratitude

Dear Newmarket parents, guardians, teachers, students, and community members,

As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, I wanted to send you a sincere word of thanks and my warmest wishes for a happy and safe holiday celebration.

It is also my privilege to express appreciation for the continued dedication of our school administrators, teachers, and staff to our students. Seeing the many committed educators of Newmarket in action is one of the joys of my job.

As I have learned in my first few months, Newmarket is a very child-centered community. The support parents, guardians,  teachers and community members give to our schools is amazing. I still have wonderful images of the incredible turnout at last month’s spaghetti supper at NES and the amazing support given to the girls’ soccer team as they won the state championship earlier this month.

As a school leader navigating through the pandemic, I am particularly thankful for the Newmarket Community’s collective effort to keep school operating as normal. We have been very fortunate thus far and have had no significant Covid disruptions. This is due in large part to the conscientious parents and guardians of our community.

I encourage everyone to enjoy Thanksgiving with their loved ones wherever they may be. But before you return to school on Monday, please take the time to do a self-assessment for Covid, Flu or RSV symptoms. Here is a link to the latest guidance from the CDC.

Given that medical experts predict a post-holiday surge, I kindly ask parents and guardians to err on the side of caution and keep kids home if they exhibit any symptoms. The best way to keep schools open is to prevent the spread of Covid, flu and RSV in our community.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Todd Allen, Superintendent
