Planned Remote Learning Periods Survey

Dear Newmarket Parents, Guardians and Members of the Community,

As the first snowflakes fell today, we were all reminded that winter is upon us!  It has been a busy week as we contemplate our school and district budgets for the 2021-22 school year, and the impending challenges of the upcoming flu season during the COVID -19 pandemic.

We continue to navigate the situation facing us, as positivity rates rise nationwide, and we are working hard to plan strategically, so that we might curtail the spread of viruses in our schools and community, while maintaining student safety and the health of our critical workforce.

Many of you participated in Tuesday’s Town Hall Meeting to discuss the possibility of coordinated, planned remote learning periods following school breaks. Your feedback was much appreciated.  As requested, we are conducting a survey of parents to determine the collective preferences of Newmarket families. These are difficult decisions, and they are not arrived at lightly.  Please take a moment to complete the attached survey, so that your voice may be heard.

As a reminder, on Monday Junior Senior High School students will return to on-campus learning and there will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 3rd, election day.  I wish you a safe and wonderful Halloween weekend!

Sincerely,
Susan K. Givens, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
