All we want for Christmas is Jeans! PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 17 December 2014 00:00

Linked Together's Teens for Jeans drive is off to a fast pace. To date we have collected 713 pairs of jeans!

Jeans can be dropped off at the Linked Together program in the Newmarket Elementary School cafeteria Monday thru Friday from 3-6 or at Keller Williams Coastal Realty in Portsmouth.

In January, both the Elementary school and the Jr./Sr. High School will be holding classroom/advisory contests to see who can collect the most jeans. The class and advisory that collects the most jeans will be provided with a private in class meal (pizza, salad and dessert) purchased from the Newmarket Food Service Department.

Recess:

The official start of winter is just around the corner, and hat & coat weather has already arrived! Please keep in mind your child needs to be dressed appropriately for the winter weather conditions. All children will be sent out to recess for some fresh air every day, unless the temperature is below 20o Fahrenheit. Hats, mittens and snow pants are recommended. Students in grades K, 1, 2 and 3 must have snow pants and boots to play in the snow.

Lost & Found:

Our lost and found is bursting at the seams with coats, hats and many other items. We will be cleaning out our lost and found over December break. If your child is missing something, please stop in and check out the items in that have been left behind.

Parent Notes:

I would like to remind parents to send in a note to your child's classroom teacher if your child's end of the day plan is going to vary from their normal routine. We need notes if your child is riding a different bus home, will be in parent pick up or needs to be dismissed early from school. If you need to contact the school with any last minute change in plans, please try to contact the school by 2:00 pm. This will allow the office staff to share this information with your child's teacher in a timely manner. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Absences or Tardies:

If your child is going to be absent or tardy from school, please contact the school by leaving a message in the school's attendance voice mailbox by pressing 1.

New Parent Pick-Up Procedure PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 11 December 2014 19:20

In an effort to improve the organization and security of our end-of-day parent pick-up procedure, we will be implementing the following changes:

  1. Parents picking up a child in grades 1-2 will need to form a line on the left side of the foyer
  2. All students in grades 1-2 will report to the library
  3. Parents will check out their child with the duty teacher assigned to the library entrance
  4. Parents picking up a child in grades 3-5 should line up on the right side of the foyer
  5. Children in grades 3-5 will line up by the nurses office
  6. We will continue to use our current dismissal routine for children in grades 3-5

These changes went into effect on Monday, December 1st

As with any change there will be adjustment period for parents and staff, which may initially result in a longer period of time to sign out your child. Your patience with this new procedure is greatly appreciated.

It's hard to believe we are approaching the mid-way point of the first trimester. As such, teachers will be holding Parent conferences throughout the week of the 20th, and during the day on Friday, October 24th. I realize this is a break from when we have traditionally held our Open House, but we felt it is important for you to hear how your child is doing with his/her studies earlier in the school year. This year we will be holding our Open House in March.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is bursting at the seams! If your child is missing something, please stop in and check out the items that have been left behind. With the chilly mornings, they'll need to bundle up!

Let us know about your child's schedule changes

I would like to remind parents to send in a note to your child's classroom teacher if your child's end of the day plan is going to vary from their normal routine. We need notes if your child is riding a different bus home, will be in parent pick up or needs to be dismissed early from school.
