  • Did you know that on the NECAP Reading test over the past four years, the percentage of 11th graders scoring Proficient or Proficient with Distinction improved each year, going from 75% in 2009-10 to 81% in 2010-11 to 83% in 2011-12 and reaching 88% in 2012-13?
  • Did you know that on the 3rd grade Reading test during the same four years, the percentage of students scoring Proficient or Proficient with Distinction varied, going from 92% to 77% to 83% to 78%?
  • Did you know that on the 4th grade Reading test during the same four years, the percentage of students scoring Proficient or Proficient with Distinction showed good improvement, going from 77% to 84% to 88% to 82%?
  • Did you know that on the 5th grade Reading test during the same four years, the percentage of students scoring Proficient or Proficient with Distinction declined, going from 87% to 81% to 82% to 75%?
While these proficiency rates are generally at or above the state average and it is reasonable to expect some variation, we want to see better results. Improving our skills in teaching reading is our top priority at the Elementary School.
