School Construction Update July 12 2018

The school sites continue to evolve with high levels of site activities, of course sunny weather, and just a little bit of heat (ok wicked hot). At the high school the former media center building has been demolition to make way for the new addition, the old boiler room is currently being razed, and the new main entry foundation work has started.  As indicated prior the portables have been moved to the front of the elementary school where they will remain for this up coming school year.  The process of moving building of this type is certainly very interesting to watch.  The attached picture depicts just one of the first sections being relocated.

Interior work has started in the high school with asbestos abatement, old flooring removal, and new doorways being installed for the new main entrance.  During the next two years the State Fire Marshal's office, Town Code Enforcement, and Town Fire Chief along with our Construction Managers, School Administration, and Architects have created a plan for safely egressing of the schools during the construction phase.  You will notice new temporary stairway at the front of the high school and several temporary doorways being installed to ensure safety for all of our students, staff and visitors at our schools.  Safety will also be our number one focus during this process and into the future.
