School Construction updates

posted Oct 2, 2018, 10:07 AM by Greg Marles

Well, I have been a little behind in updating the blog.

A lot has happen since my last update, the elementary school has quite a bit of block (CMU) walls constructed, new heating system in place and running, underground drainage, room renovations, etc..  The High school of course being a much larger project has the majority of the footings and foundations poured, concrete slab being poured with radiant heat in place, and new support structures are being built.  The appearance on the backsides of the schools show changes daily with foundations, wall construction and steel being placed.  The JR/SR High west side addition has had all of the Geo-piers or concrete piles installed (124 drilled piers) to create a stable base for the new addition.

We would like to offer a Q&A section in the blog going forward; so if you have questions, please feel mail them to gmarles@newmarketnh.gov and we will post the questions and responses on the blog.

School Construction Update August 23, 2018

posted Jul 10, 2018, 4:44 AM by Greg Marles   [ updated Aug 23, 2018, 11:27 AM by Greg Marles ]

The first day of school is fast approaching us and we have made huge progress at our schools. The JR/SR High school bus drop-off loop is being top coated today as well as the new parking lot.  At the Elementary School the new temporary front parking lot is being constructed, the new gymnasium addition is really taking shape with walls being constructed and the first steel beams are being placed.  The project is moving ahead well and we have met or exceeded projected timelines.

The front of the JR/SR High School has temporary wooden enclosures where the new front entry is to be constructed; these are only temporary as the steel erection and masonry work is scheduled for next spring.  Of course the construction work around the schools makes it hard to see the end results, but we are on target and the end results will be awesome for the Newmarket community, students and visitors.

Groundbreaking

Today, June 22, we officially kicked off the school construction project with a groundbreaking ceremony at the junior-senior high.  School Board and Building Committee members were on hand to offer their thanks to the community for its generous support of this project. It takes all of us to "build brighter futures!"

Starting next week, June 25th, the activities at our schools will increase greatly with excavating activities, movement of the portable classrooms to a new staging area, and foundation work.  Please note that the entire JR/SR High school property will be inaccessible this summer due to the level of construction activities.  The elementary school will hold all of our summer programming and the offices for both schools.

If you have any questions regarding the projects please feel free to contact Greg Marles at gmarles@newmarket.nh.gov or Meredith Nadeau at nadeaum@newmarket.k12.nh.us.

We will be updating the website with ongoing information and pictures of the project.
